Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and self-directed with a background in facilities design for municipal and transportation agencies. As Electrical Engineer, you will work on a variety of projects from small to large. Some projects will require client interaction in addition to collaboration with other teaming partner firms.
Design/Technical Responsibilities
- Performing electrical design of lighting, power distribution, alarms, and communications
- Preparing plans, specifications, cost estimates (PS&E), reports, and equipment selections from schematic design through to final design including bid packages
- Producing contract documentation consistent with client standards
- Conducting site visit walkthroughs to evaluate existing conditions
- Providing construction phase support services such as review of RFI’s and shop drawings
Project Planning & Coordination Responsibilities
- Assist project managers with scoping, man-hours estimation, and budgeting for electrical scope.
- Coordinate with other departments for multi-discipline projects.
- Coordinate with other designers to determine best design solution.
- Supervision of support staff, drafters and technicians, for the preparation of plans
- Occasional client coordination to verify requirements and to facilitate design development.
- Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
- Conducting business development activities as needed
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, MS preferred
- Illinois licensed PE
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant experience in the electrical design in a variety of building types: office, commercial, education and industrial.
- Experience using SKM for Arc Flash studies
- Experience with CADD solutions including Microstation, AutoCad, and Revit
- Solid knowledge of electrical trade practices, standards, and building codes
- Strong communication, teamwork & leadership skills.
Senior Plumbing Designer / Engineer
Job Description
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and self-directed with a background in facilities design for municipal and transportation agencies. As lead plumbing designer, you will work on a variety of projects from small to large. Some projects will require client interaction in addition to collaboration with other teaming partner firms.
Project Planning & Coordination Responsibilities
- Establishing plumbing scoping, man-hours estimation, and budgets
- Planning and achieving the project schedule and milestones
- Coordination with other departments for multi-discipline projects
- Supervision of junior designers, technicians and drafters
- Timely completion of deliverables to client
- Participating in QA/QC process of completed work by staff
- Occasional client coordination to verify requirements and to facilitate design development
- Conducting business development activities as needed
Design/Technical Responsibilities
- Establishing design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects
- Preparing and assembling plans, specifications, cost estimates (PS&E), reports, and equipment selections from schematic design through to final design including bid packages
- Producing drawings consistent with client requirements and standards
- Performing fire suppression system selection, preparing preliminary designs, and creating performance specifications
- Consulting on areas such as the preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports
- Performing site visits, walkthroughs, and assessments to evaluate existing conditions
- Perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses and occasional construction site observation
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 10+ years of progressively responsible and relevant plumbing experience
- Experience with the latest version of AutoCAD-MEP, and REVIT
- A working knowledge of the various applications of fire suppression systems gained through both formal training (NFPA 99) and project experience
- Solid knowledge of Mechanical / Plumbing trades, building codes, and drawings/documents
- Detailed knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers and the ability to make proper selections independently
- Ability to independently perform fire suppression hydraulic calculations to support design and estimate construction costs and evaluate the feasibility of construction
- Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) Certification, highly preferred
- Illinois licensed PE, preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software
Senior Structural/Bridge Engineer
Job Description
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and self-directed with a background in bridges, culverts, retaining walls and other transportation-related structures. As lead designer, the selected candidate will be responsible for managing small projects.
Project Planning & Coordination Responsibilities
- Assist project managers with scoping, man-hours estimation, and budgeting for structural scope.
- Plan the project schedule and milestones.
- Coordinate with other departments for multi-discipline projects.
- Coordinate with other designers to determine best design solution.
- Supervise and direct junior designers, technicians and drafters. Provide clear guidance and instruction for timely completion of deliverable.
- Occasional client coordination to verify requirements and to facilitate design development.
Design/Technical Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble plans, specifications, cost estimates (PS&E) from schematic design through to final design including bid packages.
- Perform structural analysis and design for new structures.
- Perform structural analysis and design for rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Prepare Type, Size and Location (TS&L) structure plans.
- Perform construction related services including shop drawing reviews, RFI responses and occasional construction site observation.
- Prepare load rating calculations for new and existing structures.
Qualification Requirements
- BS in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structures (M.S. in Structural engineering preferred)
- 10+ years of progressively responsible and relevant experience
- Illinois licensed PE (SE preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and experience with structural analysis softwares
- Knowledge of client specific bridge/structures analysis, design and detailing requirements
- Knowledge of applicable design codes for bridge analysis, design and detailing. (AASTHO, etc)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity software
