PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Delta, as prime consultant, provided mechanical, instrumentation and controls, and electrical engineering services. Perlman Apartments is an affordable housing complex located at 1900 Sherman in Evanston, Illinois.
Delta designed and provided over-all supervision throughout the removal and replacement of the domestic heating and hot water boilers for these apartments. Scope of work involved:
- Completed a study of the existing conditions and prepared recommendations for upgrades.
- Designed construction sequencing for the removal of old and installation of new boilers resulting in full operation with no down-time.
- Modified electronic controllers that allow the system to sequence and balance itself on demand and interface with the new boilers and old control system.
- Ensured compliance with current building codes and OSHA standards.
- Reviewed existing specifications and selected six new boilers (A.O. Smith, “Burkay” type, Model HW-670) that have twice the capacity of the old boilers.
- Accommodating access for service & maintenance for the new, larger boilers.
