PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Delta provided multi-discipline engineering design for the renovation of this underground station.
This multiphase-phase project entailed:
- Construction of an entirely new 8,800-square-foot station mezzanine area at the intersection of LaSalle and Division streets
- Rehabilitation and modernization of the existing Clark Street mezzanine
- Rehabilitation of the 440-foot subway platform
This was done to reduce passenger congestion and create an ADA-compliant station. The station can now be entered at either LaSalle Street or Clark Street improving both access and passenger experience.
Delta performed site visits to evaluate existing conditions and to survey available gas, water supply, and sanitary drainage connections for plumbing and fixtures design. HVAC calculations considered additional loads for the new station including offices, kiosks, and other electrical rooms. Final deliverables included plans, specifications, quantities and cost estimates. Delta participated in progress meeting with CDOT/CTA/Jacobs.
This project was recognized by ACEC-Illinois in 2016 with an award in the ‘Special Achievements’ category.
