Delta provided Phase I and Phase II design for roadway and structure PS&E for the removal and replacement of existing structures. Typical associated roadway design work included: pavement reconstruction and resurfacing, detour or staged construction MOT, pavement markings, erosion and sedimentation control, landscaping and tree removal, utility/ROW coordination, cross sections and drainage plan & profiles.
WO #1 & 2, IL-115 over Drainage Ditches, Three Bridge Replacements
Design of both precast and cast-in-place culverts to replace three existing single-span concrete bridges built in the late 1920s. Total roadway design of 1920’. Construction was handled using full detour. New Structures: 027-2015, 027-2016 & 027-2014.
WO #3 & 4, IL-9 over Drainage Ditch, Culvert Replacement
TS&L and final design of large cast-in-place culvert (14’ L x 6’ H) to replace existing single cell box culvert built in 1923. Total roadway design of 700’. The culvert was constructed using staged construction, MOT was designed to maintain one lane of reversible traffic at all times. New Structure: 027-2552.
WO #5 & 6, US-6 over Illinois River Tributary, Culvert Replacement
TS&L and final design of large cast-in-place culvert to replace existing single cell box culvert built in 1919. This unique culvert has a 12’ L x 7’ H opening at the downstream end, while the upstream end is three-sided with an 8’ x 12’ opening in the top slab. Total roadway design of 600’ including. The culvert was constructed using full detour. New Structure: 050-2643.
WO #7, US-34 over Pike Creek, Bridge Replacement
TS&L and final design of a two-span steel beam superstructure (W27) with composite concrete deck resting on integral abutments and one concrete pier. Foundation consists of HP10x42 piles. Overall length is 105’-0” back-to-back of abutments and 35’-2” out-to-out width. Replaced structure was a three-span PPC deck beam superstructure on pile bent substructure built in 1983. Total roadway design of 950’. The bridge was constructed using staged construction, MOT was designed to maintain one lane of reversible traffic at all times. New Structure: 006-0183.
WO #8, US-52 over Martinton Ditch, Bridge Replacement
Design of precast two-cell culvert (10’ L x 8’ H) to replace existing reinforced concrete slab bridge built in 1929. Total roadway design of 500’. The culvert was constructed using staged construction, MOT was designed to maintain one lane of reversible traffic at all times. New Structure: 038-2028.
WO #9 & 10, US-6 over Milliken Creek, Bridge Replacement
TS&L and final design of a two-cell precast culvert (12’ L x 12’ H) to replace a three-span steel superstructure bridge built in 1959. Due to the significant 45 degree skew, the end sections and 35’ long T-type cantilever wingwalls are cast-in-place design. Culvert was designed using a large fill height of 10’ to maintain existing roadway profile. New Structure: 050-2058. Culvert was constructed using full detour.
WO #11, US-52 over Saratoga Creek, Bridge Replacement
Design of precast two-cell culvert (10’ L x 6’ H) to replace existing reinforced concrete slab bridge built in 1932. Total roadway design of 525’. The culvert was constructed using full detour. New Structure: 047-2052.
WO #12, IL-1 Over Mud Creek Tributary, Culvert Replacement
Design of precast two-cell culvert (6’ L x 3’ H) to replace existing culvert built in 1937. The straight precast end sections include traversable grates to remove guardrail requirements. Total roadway design of 381’. New Structure: 038-2564.
