PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Delta provided Phase II electrical engineering QA\QC design review services for the Mount Pulaski Pump Station located with IDOT District Six.
This pump station, originally constructed in 1940, services the IL Route 121 underpass at the Canadian National Railroad viaduct. The existing facility consists of:
- Below grade pits, both wet and dry
- Two main pumps (1,500 gpm) and a sump pump
- Above grade motor room
- Above grade discharge chamber utilizing gravity flow to send water to nearby creek northeast of the pump station
The facility is experiencing mechanical, electrical, controls, and structural deficiencies and will undergo modernization to extend its useful life. The project was split into two design contracts so that electrical and structural construction could be awarded to separate contractors.
ELECTRICAL DESIGN REVIEW
Delta performed QA\QC review for electrical design and PS&E documentation for contract # 46921. The final design included the following new improvements:
- Service entrance conductors
- Service disconnect switch
- Automatic transfer switch
- Feeder
- Generator quick connection enclosure
- Motor control center
- Refurbishment of lighting and alarms
