PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Delta provided electrical engineering design services and ComEd coordination for rehabilitation of the pump station. Station capacity will be improved from 50 CFS to 78 CFS.
Delta coordinated with ComEd for new 480V, 3 phase, 3W electric service with sufficient capacity for the pump station. Consideration was given to create entirely new service to this facility.
The electrical design includes motor control center in coordination with FLOLO and Kamp Synergy LLC for SCADA and instrumentation. It’s anticipated that controls and instrumentation will be similar to previously modified lift stations.
The control’s design incorporated a broadband spectrum radio modem capable of transmitting data from the manhole structure water-level sensor to pump station.
A back-up gas generator, with automatic transfer switch, meets emergency power outage provisions in stormy conditions. Motor control cabinet includes:
- Variable frequency drive for soft start and speed control
- SCADA control
- Power and automatic transfer switch
The contract documents included:
- A single line diagram
- Control schematics
- Electrical power plan
- Conduit and wire schedules
- Grounding and site lighting plan
